Job description
Aon Impact Forecasting team is seeking a technically skilled university student in civil/structural engineering to develop catastrophe models, with a particular focus on flood vulnerability. The intern will collaborate with scientists, developers, and client services colleagues to study vulnerability concepts, analyze insurance claims, and contribute to model development.
The primary responsibilities include studying flood vulnerability concepts, reviewing scientific literature, collecting and comparing vulnerability functions, analyzing individual insurance claims for vulnerability calibration, managing data in spreadsheets and databases, and collaborating with model developers and colleagues.
Required experience includes being a university student of civil/structural engineering, possessing a technical approach, ability to quickly learn new concepts, proficient English communication skills. Desired technical skills include knowledge of scripting or programming languages like R or Python, basics of SQL, relational databases, and GIS/CAD.
